BARISTER AT LAW
Peter is a Barrister at Law in private Practice since 1979. He
possesses a diverse interest in law however, his current and predominant
area of involvement is within Industrial Relations' dealing majorly
with negotiations of terminations and/or contracts of higher executives,
workplace harassment and discrimination issues. He is internationally
recognised as an authority on workplace bullying. He has presented
many papers and workshops in Australia and overseas on various
aspects of workplace bullying, he is a published author, presenter
and public speaker.
Peter received his Doctorate in Management
in late 2000
His 1990 paper 'Pre trial Motions' caused an amendment to the
Criminal Code of Queensland. He has a keen interest in legal education
and has lectured at the University of Queensland, Bond University,
Griffith University and the Queensland University of Technology.
He has made himself available to sit as 'MOOT Master' for Law
students
Additional to his Law qualifications, Peter also holds a Certificate
in Mediation (Bond) and Certificate IV Category 2 in Workplace
Training.
He is a Fellow of the Institute of Professional Investigators;
Fellow ,former Councilor of the Australian Institute of Management;
Former member of the Beyond Bullying Association Inc of Queensland.
Business Services' Industry Training & Advisory Board. Training
Sub-Committee and the Department of Industrials' Consultative
Committee on Workplace Health and Safety. This committee produced
a definitive definition of Bullying for Industry from the perspective
of both worker and employer. This is now produced, at Peter's
initiative, in many different languages for persons from non English
speaking background. In 2001, Peter assisted the Victorian Government
in producing a code of Conduct for Workplaces.
Peter has a diverse interest in both law and continuing education,
his present passion is to stop bullying in the Workplace. He has
presented a number of papers both in Australia and overseas in
that area since 1996. He is an active member of the Beyond Bullying
Association Inc of Queensland, Queensland and DETIR Consultive
Committee on Workplace Health and Safety and Business Services
Industry Training Council Training Sub-Committee.
He was the Keynote Speaker at the 1999 Queensland DETIR Skills
Week where he presented a paper entitled "The Loss of Skills
Through Workplace Bullying"
In July 1999, Peter participated in the 3rd International Conference
on Bullying - Responding to Professional Abuse, presenting a Paper
and a workshop.
In May 1999, Peter was the Keynote Speaker at the Royal District
Nursing Service Conference in Adelaide where he presented four
Papers
In late 1997 he was invited to speak at International Conference
on Bullying in Birmingham UK.
At the University of Queensland Symposium of Euthanasia held
on the 30th August 1997, he presented a paper on the law in Queensland
in relation to Euthanasia.
Since 1990, he has been a member of the Federal Attorney-General's
Consultative Committee on Criminal Law.
Peter has had a continuing involvement in a number of investigations
in State Government and Private Enterprise both in Queensland
and New South Wales. He has developed Policies, Procedures and
Strategies to assist in furthering investigations and enquiries.
